Thundarr!

So Ive been thinking about it. I really want to run the Thundarr the Barbarian game. I'm going to use BESM 3. I think it will work really well for it. I want it to be a really gonzo game. I was watching an episode on you tube yesterday. Thundar and the gang were fighting against tiger people being lead by a guy trying to free a demon and gain magical powers for his efforts. In case you missed it. They fought tiger people. Tiger people with laser blaster flash light look'n deals. You know what that is? Friggin sweet that's what!
Another one took place in the ruins of San Fransicos china town. They fought a wizard that rode around on a Chinese stylized hover platform. With robot troopers, he even turned a building with his magic into a fire breathing dragon. That's not even the best part. He also hired another Barbarian to kill Thundarr. A barbarian with a mechanical claw hand!
The year: 1994. From out of space comes a runaway planet, hurtling between the Earth and the Moon, unleashing cosmic destruction! Man's civilization is cast in ruin! Two thousand years later, Earth is reborn... A strange new world rises from the old: a world of savagery, super science, and sorcery. But one man bursts his bonds to fight for justice! With his companions Ookla the Mok and Princess Ariel, he pits his strength, his courage, and his fabulous Sunsword against the forces of evil. He is Thundarr, the Barbarian!

So many ideas so little time!

So many ideas so little time!

So I'm looking through BESM 3. I'm thinking about the old cartoon Thundarr. That would be an awesome gonzo game. Post apocalyptic mayhem of the highest order. I think BESM3 would be perfect for it.
Then I look over at my Iron Heros books. I look at them and I want to run a sword and sorcery epic. In the the tradition of Howard or Leiber. The clanging of swords, and brute force.
Then I flip around the channels on the TV. I come across BBC America. The show MI5. Is it just me or does nothing on American TV hold a candle to British spy programs. Back in the seventies the Sandbaggers, to MI5 and other shows today. Anyways this all makes want to run a spy game. Not like James Bond, more like the comic Queen and Country. Or in country MI5, FBI infiltration type stuff.
So many ideas, so little time! Man I need to start another gaming night. But I don't think I can get the people. The group already plays my campaign on Sunday. Then half play on Monday then the other half play on Wednesday in Bungees campaign. Maybe I need to organize an occasional game. Maybe a one shot that has the chance of repeating. One long super session once a month. Maybe something that starts early in the evening and goes till it finishes be it 10:00pm or 4:00am. Old school like back in the day. Hmm.. something to ponder.
