Tambak Island

A sample of a location for the pulp game I'm working on.

Tambak Island
Within this assortment of islands, atolls, cays, shoals, reefs, and sandbars that make up the Spratly Islands. There is a small land mass known as Tambak Island. Rocky beaches surround the isle, opening on the eastern end into a sheltered cove. The center of the island that features a small outcropping of jungle. Located on this harbor with its back to the encroaching jungle, a formerly sleepy fishing village has grown to a busy seaplane weight stop. A destination for adventurers, pilots, mercenaries, spy's, pirates, and other less than savory types. The Japanese Navy maintains a small garrison and flight of seaplanes. But the island is a neutral ground. Thanks mostly to an agreement forged with the commander of Japanese forces by the de facto leader of the island residents, a Frenchman known as De Salis. While the town can be a rough and tumble place. All out warfare between different factions is rare. For no one wants to incur the wrath of the Japanese.

Hey look a Post!

Ok obviously I've been a royal fucking slacker the last year. No posts or communication. But I'm resolving to try to be a more proactive poster. I make no guarantees. But it is my goal to be more social.
Now with that out of the way. I've been working on a pulp game for about a year now. A little here, a little there. Its kind of a combination of "Tales of the Gold Monkey", "Sky Captain", and few other of my favorite pulps and/or pulpy media. Its really coming along now. I have the majority of the ideas and stuff down now. I don't expect it will be ever published. Its more for myself. But that's ok. I hope to give it a test run here in the near future. But we'll see if I can swing it. I plan on posting some thoughts and excerpts from and about it. So look for it. :-)

Doings

So much going on, to many ideas. I need to start working on the latest issue of the supplement. With the holidays it going to be a short month for writing. Not to mention one of my main contributors is working on a feature film. So I'm not sure he can be relied on for his usual, well contribution.
Then theres my goofy ass. The theme of this months supplement is apocalypse, or post-apocalypse. But all I can dream of is Victorian science fiction. I say VSF not steam punk. Because I think that denotes a slightly different idea/meaning. I envision Victoria's boys in red coats and pith helmets battling the soldiers of the Imperial German Empire, pickelhaubes and Mauser's. Fighting over deposits of lift material to power their aeronef fleets. Ground fighting involving soldiers and steam powered land ironclads. Dueling on the African continent for control of this precious resource.
Perhaps I could combine the both. Maybe a war of the worlds scenario. Except the humans don't do so well. Or the first onslaught of the martians is devastating.
On the other hand will the readership really want more of a Mad Max, road warrior type of thing? Or maybe a more gonzo approach like Gamma World, or Mutant Future? Or the one I really like, a realistic gritty game like Twilight 2000. I just don't know how I'm going to proceed at this point. But I got to get moving on it. So a decision needs to be made soon.
